CHALLENGE

Create compelling assets for Humankind's social media channels to engage and resonate with the target player audience while reflecting the brand's messaging and maintaining coherence with the art direction.

Assets were to reflect the historical, strategy nature of Humankind and be tailored to suit each social media platform's specifications and best practices for maximum impact, all the while ensuring balanced and well-laid-out compositions of the various sized assets.

Adaptability to accommodate the demanding posting frequency was critical and alignment with the overall marketing strategy.

Evergreen series were created that could be posted any time, independent of topical announcements, allowing for greater flexibility in planning ahead.

Templates facilitated the preparation of multiple iterations, enabling bulk content creation in a time-efficient manner to meet the demanding posting schedule. Additionally, templates ensured consistency with the brand's art direction, maintaining visual coherence across various posts.

Close collaboration with other teams ensured alignment with the overall marketing strategy, integrating key messaging and themes, and ensuring that content was player-focused and compelling.

BRAND OUTLINE

Humankind, Amplitude Studios' historical 4X strategy game, allows players to combine cultures across six different eras to build the most famous empire in history. The visual appearance of each empire reflects these cultural choices throughout the game.


The art style is colourful, elegant and historically accurate, with artists working in collaboration with historians to ensure all cultures were represented authentically.


All marketing assets were required to follow the brand identity, adhering to the selected colours, fonts, and other graphic elements.

Humankind utilised numerous illustrations as in-game pop-ups. These along with screenshots of gameplay served as inspiration for many of the template series as they were readily available and allowed for independent and efficient content creation.

Templates were designed to be minimal and elegant, ensuring cohesion with the brand identity while allowing the in-game illustrations to be the focal point.

Given the various shapes and sizes of the illustrations, the templates included rounded squares and rectangles that served as adaptable frames to hold the illustrations. This ensured that all illustrations could be resized uniformly, giving a cohesive appearance.

Additionally, the templates were crafted to enable other team members, including junior staff, to produce the reiterations of the designs, ensuring visual consistency while dividing the workload effectively.

Most importantly, preparation and planning with these evergreen templates allowed the team to maintain a regular posting schedule while freeing up time to react and create assets for topical announcements as they arose.
